From away? Here’s what you need to know.

Halifax is the capital city of Nova Scotia, and is the largest city east of Quebec City with a population of around 400,000 people. Halifax is the home of amazing oceanfront views, delicious seafood, lighthouses and donairs. The Bay of Fundy, located 45 minutes from Halifax, has the highest tides in the world! Anthro East Coast’s venue is located in the south end of downtown Halifax – well known for its university life, waterfront views, nature parks, restaurants and shopping. 

Travelling

Outside of Halifax:

By Car – Highway 102 (Halifax-Onslow) brings you right into downtown Halifax. Highways: 101 (Bedford-Yarmouth), 103 (Halifax-Yarmouth) & 104 (New Brunswick-Richmond) all connect to Highway 102.

By Train or Bus – The VIA Rail Train and Maritime Bus Station is located at 1161 Hollis Street, which is a 25 minute walk from the venue or a 5 minute bus ride. City bus stop is located at the corner of Barrington & South St (stop #6097), take bus #7 “Clockwise to Robie”. Exit bus at stop #8187 Robie St/ University Ave. Bus runs every 20 minutes minimum. By Ferry – For ferry service between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, PEI, or Maine, please refer to the Bay Ferries/ Northumberland Ferries website.

By Plane – Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is located in Enfield, roughly 30 minutes away from the convention by car. MetroX city bus #320 “Airport/Fall River” travels between the airport and downtown Halifax. Another option downtown is Halifax Airport Express Shuttle. Rental cars and taxis are also available at the airport.

Accommodations

Anthro East Coast does not currently offer a room block at any nearby hotels, but there are many affordable and convenient places to stay available around the city.

Dalhousie University offers a wide range of affordable summer accommodations on campus which may include parking, WiFi, cable TV, laundry and kitchen facilities:
